With Project Ara, Google-owned Motorola wants to create a third-party developer ecosystem around a customizable framewook that gives users more choice in the components that make up their smartphones, according to Paul Eremenko of the Motorola Advanced Technology and Projects group, Project Ara Team in a blog post. The project has been in the works for over a year. “We want to do for hardware what the Android platform has done for software: create a vibrant third-party developer ecosystem, lower the barriers to entry, increase the pace of innovation, and substantially compress development timelines,” he wrote....

Desde el Galaxy Gear Live de 2014, ningún smartwatch de Samsung había usado el sistema operativo para wearables de Google. Most are painfully slow and difficult to use, pushing users through multiple stages when all they want to do is rip. Many just can’t cope with the copy-protection mechanisms on some recent DVDs....

SanDisk Extreme PRO 480 GB review: what it is, why it matters The SanDisk Extreme PRO builds on the already excellent Extreme II SSD, adding a larger DRAM cache and revised firmware. Like the previous Extreme II it replaces, the Extreme PRO relies on the Marvell 88SS9187 controller running SanDisk’s own custom firmware. This combination is backed with a generous 1 GB of DDR3 memory for the largest 960 GB capacity model, and also the 480 GB size that we tested....

The 1600 series falls between Nvidia’s current generation of graphic cards, the 2000 series, and its previous generation, the 1000 series. This makes the 1660 an excellent midpoint in terms of price and specs. Performance-wise the 1660 is comparable to the GTX 1070, but functions on a newer architecture that draws less power. You can pick up the more compact version for cheaper – prices are around the £259 mark: Ebuyer has a Zotac-manufactured option for £259....

The P304 is small for a gaming laptop, with just a 13.3-inch display and a weight of 2 kg.
