This is the first mobile chip from nVidia’s new range, and it’s a monster. It’s got 1344 stream processors clocked at 941 MHz, with a GPU Boost peak of 967 MHz. Those are faster clocks than any top-end mobile card in last year’s nVidia range. MSI has doubled the standard 3 GB of GDDR5 memory, and it’s now clocked to 1250 MHz. That’s a mighty specification, and it scarcely matters that this chip uses last year’s Kepler architecture – it still battered every benchmark test we threw at it....
It’s expensive enough that most people wouldn’t even consider buying one, but affordable compared to actual art – and has the added bonus that you can change images as often as you want. Fantastic picture quality helps justify the outlay for a Meural Canvas, but dodgy gesture controls and connectivity issues make it a harder sell. I’m pleased to report that the Nord CE 2 is no exception. I’ve spent the weekend screaming from my sofa at the Resident Evil 2 remake, playing through by Claire and Leon’s campaigns to find out what’s new, what’s old, and why the hell the Tyrant won’t just leave me alone. Including fan service options like the original soundtrack might suggest that this is a slavish reproduction of the 1998 original, but this isn’t quite so faithful....
